Q: What is the cost of therapy

A: Typically the cost of a therapy session is $150 however insurance covers most of the cost. It is very important that you contact your insurance carrier to be aware of your co-pay, mental health insurance benefits and any other financial responsibilities. Most people will have a co-pay around $15 to $25 per session and varies according to your coverage.


Q: What hours are your office hours?

A: My normal office hours are 9-5 Monday through Friday however they may vary from week to week according to my clients' needs. I am usually able to schedule initial appointments within 48 hours of your call. I also make 1-2 evenings available for appointments. I'm flexible in my scheduling in order to meet your needs.


Q: What age groups do you serve and what is your experience?

A: I work primarily with adults however I have many years of experience with adolescents/teenagers. My past experience includes working with families/individuals in the homes with Families, Inc. for over 6 years. At both Mercy and St. Luke's hospitals in Cedar Rapids providing both inpatient and outpatient mental health services. Most recently I was in private practice with Psychiatric Associates and recently moved my practice to the current location.


Q: How long does therapy take?

A: This varies from person to person. Some people are able to resolve their problems/issues within a month or so while others take longer. A person's active participation in the therapy is crucial to the effectiveness and length of treatment.


Q: What's your perspective on medication(s)?

A: The use of psychotropic medications can be of benefit to people however I also believe a person's lifestyle and health have a significant impact on their mental health and wellbeing. I am able to refer people to psychiatrists in the community. Some people also utilize their primary care physician for medication(s).
